Prof. Hennie Botha

Hennie Botha is Professor and Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Stellenbosch University and Tygerberg Hospital in South Africa. He started his professional career in a rural hospital in Malawi. Returning to South Africa he specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and then did further training in the field of Gynaecological Oncology in the United Kingdom. He has authored and co-authored many articles in journals and is co-editor of the textbook “Clinical Gynaecology”.

 

His research focus is on cervical cancer prevention and treatment, including in people living with HIV. He collaborates with national and international researchers.

 

Prof. Botha is enthusiastic about under-and postgraduate teaching and training and his unit has trained many specialists in South Africa and other African countries.
