He serves as Deputy Chairman of SAMCC and is also the Chairman of the IPA Foundation of SA and Chairman of Kwa Zulu Natal Doctors Healthcare Coalition.
Professor Morgan Chetty serves as associate Professor to the Department of Research, Durban University of Technology and was awarded the Fellowship of Family Physicians by the College of Medicine of SA – 2013 – FCFP(SA). In 1993 – 1994 he was awarded the Fullbright – Humphrey scholarship and completed his MPH in the USA.
He has written two books on Managed Care and is a speaker at National and International Conferences on a regular basis and writes for the Medical Chronicle. Prof. Chetty was appointed on the NHI Technical Task Team [GP Contracting] in South Africa. He is now on the Board of OHSC (Office of the Health Standards Committee) – appointed by the Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi. In addition, he has been appointed on to the Advisory Committee on Partnering with patients – ISQUA (International Society of Quality Assurance) and as an ISQua Expert in 2018.
Professor Morgan Chetty has presented on PCC at the ISQua London Conference and previously at the Paris meeting, where he presented on Quality of Care in developing countries. He has coordinated and presented on PCC at the Africa Health Conference and the KZNDHC Conference. He has written numerous articles on PCC, its impact on Quality and Cost and the methods to measure PCC programs.
He has been the recipient of a number of awards for leadership in Healthcare. Amongst these awards are the Titanium Award by the BHF for Leadership in Healthcare and the Discovery Health Life Time Achievement Award for work on Quality of care.
Professor Chetty’s interests are: Patient-Centered Care and Quality in Healthcare. He serves on the PCC Committees in SA and also serves on the ISQua African Committees Program.
