Dr. Muluken Yohannes
Dr. Muluken Yohannes, is a medical doctor specialising in PH & Operational Research in health with more than 17 years of work experience. Currently, he is working as Special Advisor for H.E Dr. Lia Tadesse, Minister for Health, Ethiopia, on Gavi board.
Recently, at PATH (2017-2019), he was working as a senior technical advisor for FMoH on NVI . As part of this role, he plays an instrumental role on national rollout of the HPV vaccine. He provided a TA to EPI to implement & monitor Gavi NVI grant.
Dr. Muluken is a recognised expert in NV delivery & evaluation & serves as a member of national task force for immunisation. In his previous role at CHAI ( 2014-2017) , he was immunisation strategic planning & NVI advisor for FMoH & played an instrumental roles in development of immunisation cMYP 2016–2020 strategic plan, national introduction of IPV, & switch from tOPV to bOPV. Furthermore, as a member of immunisation task force & WG , he advises ministry on various immunisation policy, strategic, & programmatic activities.
With his preceding role at UNICEF & World bank project, (2010-2014), he worked as a consultant for child survival programs mainly focusing on under five malnutrition & infant immunisation programs.
Dr. Muluken was formerly with MSH & Project Concern International ( 2007-2010) as regional manager & project manager for USAID funded HIV/AIDS program.He is experienced in strategic planning, with a demonstrated history of working in international non-governmental organisations. He is skilled in project management, research, policy analysis, program evaluation, & program development with an in-depth knowledge & understanding of immunisation programs, policy & strategy, nutrition, & HIV/AIDS programs.
Dr. Muluken has a strong business development background, with advanced skills in quantitative analysis.
In addition to his MD & MPH background, he has a Masters in Project Management , Organisational Leadership, Business Administration & Health Studies. Currently he is working toward his PhD on a health study with University of South Africa.
