
Dr. Jelita Chinyonga
Dr. Jelita Chinyonga is a Zambian Medical Doctor who has a firm belief that equity of access to health care should be a high priority on each country’s agenda and that health services begin with individuals and families in homes. She specializes in public health and believes in equal access to quality health services for the whole population and equity in health status.
A firm believer of financial empowerment as a gateway to better health, bearing in mind that a healthy nation is a developing nation. She was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow from the International Rotary Club for addressing social determinants of health, including empowering vulnerable communities and institutions. She is currently working as the Director Performance Improvement at the national level under the Ministry of Health in Zambia.
She holds a medical degree from the Medical School in Santiago de Cuba and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam. Dr. Jelita is also a small scale farmer.
