The Medical Credit Fund is part of the PharmAccess Group, a dynamic international organization dedicated to connecting more people to better healthcare in sub-Saharan Africa through mobile technology, loans to doctors, health insurance, clinical standards (SafeCare) and impact research.
Medical Credit Fund works with financial partners to provide local currency loans to health SMEs combined with technical assistance aimed at quality and business improvement. This approach has attracted international attention, including a G20 prize for innovative financing presented by President Obama in 2010. As of October 2017, MCF has disbursed close to 1300 loans totaling USD 25 million.
Dorien is educated as a medical doctor and holds an MBA. Before joining MCF/PharmAccess, she worked in healthcare provision, management consultancy, pharmaceuticals and healthcare infrastructure development.
