Dr. Freddy Kgongwana’s Biography
Dr. Freddy Kgongwana was born on 12 July 1963. He matriculated in 1982 at W.F Nkomo high school in Atteridgeville Pretoria. He is a medical doctor by profession and currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Garankuwa, Pretoria.
In 1991 he obtained his medical degree from Sefako Makgatho University (SMU) Formerly known as Medical University of South Africa (Medunsa).
After completing his internship, He worked as General Practitioner improving and bettering the lives of people in his own community. As a Medical Officer he practiced in several positions such as:
- An acting Clinical Head,
- Senior Medical Manager,
- Senior Clinical executive,
- Deputy CEO.
He has worked extensively in his field of profession and has a wealth of experience in the medical related field. He became the Chief Executive Officer from February 2016 to date.
Additional Social Responsibilities
Between 1988 and 2003 Dr Freddy Kgongwana has participated in numerous social responsibility work which includes amongst others: serving on the board of management of catholic institutions in the North West, Making annual donations to Redibone Primary school in Soshanguve for school merit awards. As well as participating in the science Expo organised by the human science council.
